Sometimes you have that wall, maybe at your entrance, on a cathedral ceiling or a stairway, that needs a unique piece of art that's often difficult to find. Well, at eight feet tall, this canvas print requires a unique wall.
It’s one of those images you know you should stop and capture. It took me a few years to finally take it, and I’m glad I did. Unfortunately, the ice storm of 2025 broke the tree in half.

I've made panoramic images before, but they are typically horizontal. I wanted to find and capture an image that would work in a vertical format. What better subject than a tree!
This is a favourite Birch Tree of mine which I've photographed before in Autumn, but this early in the season the colours were only beginning to change. The splash of red from the Sumac at the base of the Birch inspired the title.
