Why Choose Us?

You can look at literally hundreds of photography websites and soon become over-whelmed with the choices. So what makes MG Photography so different?

First of all, we offer flexibility. If all you want are digital image files, you can get that. If you want a contempory looking ArtBook, you can have that. You can also get a traditional wedding album. The choice is yours.

Secondly, we've created our album packages so you know, up front, exactly how much your finished photos are going to cost. Some studios offer 'basic' packages that only include a certain amount of photos, or a certain amount of pages in your album, and then charge you more for extra photos or pages. We don't 'nickel & dime' you by the picture, the page, or even the thickness of the album. You simply book us for the time you need us, and the price includes all your photographs, all the pages in your album or book with no hidden fees.

How does this work?

How do we determine ahead of time how many photographs or pages you'll need for your ArtBook or album? We don't. And frankly, we don't care. We want your album or ArtBook to be designed based on all your photographs and we want it to be creative, story-telling and un-restricted. In other words, we don't want to be limited by a finite number of pages or photographs when designing your wedding. We want to be able to create a unique and expressive re-creation of your wedding day.

But we do know that if we are at your wedding for, lets say, an additional hour, we will produce more images to include in your book. In other words, if you want us there for additional time, you obviously want to include those photographs in your album. The worst thing that can happen is for you to eliminate photographs you love because you didn't budget for the additional cost. So rather than 'adding on' and charging you by the picture or page afterwards, we build them into the price of the coverage so you know right away how much it will cost.

Here's how. Depending on the style of album or book you plan on getting, there is typically Five Hours of coverage included. We know that in that five hours, we can capture all the images required to create a stunning and beautiful wedding album with photographs of the bride and groom, the ceremony, family and group portraits afterwards and enough of your reception to create an exciting and thoughtful 'story' of your day. If you need additional time for extra locations or other proceedings, there is an hourly rate that includes: the extra time to photograph, the extra time to select, process and retouch the additional images, the extra time to design the additional pages, the cost of the extra pages in the album or book, and the extra cost of the photographs themselves. The great thing, is that you will know up front how much all this will be.

What happens after the wedding?

After the wedding is when the real work begins. This is when we sort, evaluate and select all the images that will end up in your album or ArtBook. Obviously we eliminate the blinks, the duplicates, the odd image that just didn't work or otherwise unfavourable images. What we are left with are the best images from each and every sequence or 'grouping' that was taken. This can include all the formal and 'fun' photographs as well as detail images and background images that we may use as a backdrop in a page design. Then we carefully colour-balance, crop, retouch or enhance each and every photograph creating a custom print for every image. This can include black & white conversions, sepiatone or other 'duo-tones', soft-focus, edge-fx or other refinements to optimize your photographs.

Your wedding is story-boarded in a creative and relevant design that captures the distinctive flavour of your day. When the design is completed, we offer you an opportunity to view the layout for final approval. If there's something you don't like, we simply change it. When it's the way you want it, it goes to print. Timelines will vary depending on which album or ArtBook you decide on and we can discuss this in detail when you make your choice.

Obviously there is a lot of work that goes into the photography and design of your wedding images. On average, including the wedding photography, we spend anywhere from 35 to 50 hours to create your wedding album or ArtBook.
